teotihuacan

Thirty miles northeast of Mexico City are pyramids built around 100 BC in the preColumbian Americas. After a mediocre tour from a guide who seized upon us at the entrance gate, we hiked the steep 248 steps to the top on the sun pyramid. Glorious views. Later, on top of the pyramid of the moon which was once the base of an elaborate temple, we snacked on blue corn quesadillas filled with pumpkin flowers and mangos and papayas. Dramatic cloudy skies added to the spectacular landscape.
