Rooms with a view

Another day another view. Upon further inspection, Samuel's casa particular was less than desirable. The once beautiful colonial house was not clean, and although we were interested in mingling with locals, this house seemed to be a refuge for elderly women in housecoats. The section of town was particularly run down, many streets under construction, and locals watching our every move. The silver lining was being two doors down from a famous and popular music venue with locals. On our way to dinner we stopped in and caused a stir among the Afro-Cubam crowd. We danced until the band finished their set, and then retreated into the decaying streets of Habana.
The next morning we took bici-taxis to a new house near Plaza Vieja. Excellent location, dramatic fourth floor views of the city and Capitol Building, and a large, clean bathroom. Storm clouds darken the sky, and an evening storm with high winds banged the shutters. Afternoon showers have been prevalent since this is in fact low season due to high temperatures, rain and the threat of hurricanes. I'm enjoying the weather, it's a nice change of pace from the arid SoCal climate.
