Jon Stewart

For months I've been dreading August 6th,
the date of Jon Stewart's last broadcast.
Stewart has been my bullshit barometer,
exposing media spin and falsifications,
and illuminating the absurd political shenanigans that have become standard in our country.
At the end of a long day, he makes me howl.
More importantly, he makes me feel like it's all going to be okay.
Several weeks ago when he walked into HBO's lobby where I was waiting to go into a meeting,
I immediately ambushed him and gushed.
It was the day after his extraordinary monologue honoring the victims in Charleston.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to thank him and tell him how much he'll be missed.
What struck me was his humility which made me love him even more.
