The Hundred Day Project Completed

The last four days of The Hundred Day Project,
Mad Whip and I chose not to use each other's posts as inspiration.
We shot blind, and observed our psychic tuning.
Not surprisingly, there were obvious elements linking our images.
Or perhaps it's just easy to find a thread after the photo is taken.
It made me wonder if that's what we do in life;
find patterns, link cause to effect as a way to make sense of the chaotic unknown
that unravels in 24 hour increments.

When the project started, I was excited to see where I'd be in 100 days.
Would my photography have changed?
Would my life?
Through repetition and experimentation, my photography did change.
Happy accidents resulted from always being on the look out and having my camera with me.
But I also went in search of ideas and created specific moods.
With regards to my life, I was hoping there would be more change.
A calm restlessness has permeated these months.
How does one surrender without giving up?
Pursue opportunities while remaining open to all possibilities?
A daily tight rope to cross.
The constant during these hundred days has been picking up the camera.
Posting and stringing together a visual narrative with Mad Whip
has been an outlet for my internal apprehension.

My last image is of an art installation in MacArthur Park called Spheres.
3000 inflatable globes resembling beach balls were painted by children
and filled the fallen-out-of-favor downtown lake.
The project hopes to draw Angelenos back to the park.
The non profit organization behind the installation is
Portraits of Hope.
The perfect title for my hundred days project.

The Hundred Day Project

Nearing the end of The Hundred Day Project.
Sadly, only four more days to go.
The desert landscape makes an appearance in my photos this week.
The expansive sky and parched terrain are an endless source of inspiration.

The Penultimate Week - The Hundred Day Project

As summer winds down so does The Hundred Day Project.
To counter burnout,
I woke before the sun on several mornings
and traipsed around my neighborhood waiting for it to crest over the hills.
Photography is all about light, and yet, more often than not,
I shoot in the middle of the day.
Not ideal!
This week was all about morning light.

Week Twelve - The Hundred Day Project

How is it feasible that Labor Day is two weeks away
shuttering the windows on another season?
I wrestle with the unsettling notion of time passing too quickly.
Within me is a duality of propulsion and inertia.
I sit in a state of wait while the calendar pages rapidly turn.

Another week, another set of photos.
Mad Whip kicked off the week with her last pic from an epic weekend wedding in Scotland.
My images were all taken close to home.
Although I didn't feel very inspired
I am satisfied with several of the images.
Perhaps therein lies the lesson:
After 80 some odd days,
the ritual, even when it feels monotonous,
can lead to surprising results.

Week 11 - The Hundred Day Project

This week's heatwave has made me irritable.
and 11 weeks into the project, I'm not feeling very inspired.
This new Photos software is trying my patience.
I've spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get mad whip's pics into my photostream,
and no matter what I do one won't upload.
I'm giving up and posting anyway.
May this week be less frustrating.
