Little side dilemmas popped up in the great floor renovation plan
like where to stay once the contents of the house were stored in the garage.
I was already spending an inordinate amount of time pouring over NY listings
on airbnb and similar sites for my three months in NY.
It was an obvious and easy solution on where to rest our heads the last two nights I'd be in LA.
I prefer off the beaten path, slightly funky to generic furnished rentals
which is what lead me to a 1920s mansion, The Garbutt House.
High above silver lake with stunning 360 views
is a residence built for an inventor and founder of AAA.
His irrational fear of fires and floods lead to a concrete fortress, doors made of reinforced steel.
We resided in the what must have been the maid's quarters, beautifully furnished,
comfortable bed, sans kitchen, but cooking wasn't high on the agenda.
An incredible perch, a perfect place to chill and unwind after a crazy weekend.
