The highlight of my day was driving up to the Soumaya museum and seeing the aluminum structure rising like a space ship from the urban landscape. Opened in 2011, this museum houses the private collection of Carlos Slim who often competes with Bill agates for the richest person in the world title. Designed by his son in law, Fernando Romero, who not surprisingly engineered with Frank Gehry, the structure shimmered in the late afternoon overcast sky. Comprised of 16,000 hexagonal shapes, it's an engineering feet. The interior, calling to mind the Guggenheim with its circular galleries and ramps is home to the largest collection of Rodin's sculptures outside of France. Unfortunately, a late afternoon thundershower cut short my photo session or I'd still be there trying to capture by the silver shape.
