Abundance

Been dodging obstacles the last few weeks.
Kept looking on the bright side,
until I couldn't stop feeling beaten down.
Started to dwell on the disappointments, and what was missing.
Saw this posted on fb and I was reminded that I get to chose my attitude.
Today was better.

Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend...when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that's present--love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure--the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.

SF Eats

San Francisco is a food town.
JOB made sure we had reservations at the top spots
even if it meant dining at 10pm.
Four years ago, when Frances had just opened in the Castro
we luckily snagged an early reservation.
I fondly remember the extraordinary meal.
Time has not diminished the quality of the food.
It was just as special, and the bread by Josey Baker
was both my appetizer and dessert.
We made a pilgrimage to the bakery the next morning
for toast slathered in almond butter
and a fantastic cup of coffee.
This is where we dined, and truthfully all of our meals were delicious:

Worlds

Each friend represents a world in us,
a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting
that a new world is born.

Northern California in Black and White

Sausalito

Friends in Sausalito took us to an amazing trail near the Golden Gate,
and down to Cronkhite Beach.
Dolphins, surfers, sunshine, ease.
Northern California bliss.

Tripping

The impetus for the road trip was the Ai Weiwei exhibit at Alcatraz.
JOB's friend worked on the project for three months, made more than 30 ferry trips to the island,
and helped assemble the lego installation, per the artists instructions.
Her presence on our tour was a bonus.
A political activist for freedom, the prison is an unbelievable
canvas for the Ai Weiwei's work which was specifically constructed for this space.
Blue skies overhead as we ferried to the island.
Bright girls, inquisitive chatter, infectious smiles sparked by an amazing
artistic creation.
Battled the crowds at The Ferry Building for
take out from The Slanted Door.
