The Last Day of August

Started the day with a much needed hike.
I'm unwinding, but still fatigued.
I need to get lost, go far away from my routine
and declutter my brain.
I need to realign, regroup, and reconnect.

Mikky Ekko

Excellent show at the intimate Sayers Club.
Mikky is a rare talent, and on a meteoric rise.

Sunday

The last two weekends I've had to cram a typical 48 hour respite into 24.
Fighting exhaustion, and the desire to nap and lounge all day
I committed to early morning yoga, a much-needed stop at the farmer's market,
and an afternoon with V wandering around downtown.
Enchanted by the new stalls at Grand Central Market,
the DJ at Grand Park, ice tea at Perch,
and people watching.
Absolutely grateful for these hours lost to meandering conversation and exploration.

Two Years

Caught my mind, several times today, as it wandered to a hospital room in NJ on a rainy Wednesday
as I waited for my father to die.
The talking, planning, napping, laughing hours as he slowly transitioned to the other side.
Was slready feeling tired and vulnerable,
the memories and loss crack my heart open wider.
