A few blocks from where I'm staying in Mexico City is a market. Our mornings have started with fresh juices and quesadillas which are very different than the ones served in the states. My favorite filling is flor de calabasa, pumpkin flowers. Until I saw them uncooked I didn't realize its what we call squash blossoms, a vegetable my grandmother used to make. I always pass them up at the farmers market, unsure how to cook them. Now I know, slightly sautéed with onion. Can't wait to find them this fall.
